Question:

Is it cheesy to propose, THEN get it appraised (having to take it away from her for a day or so)?

So I just bought my diamond (well, her diamond). However, since I have 30 days to get another appraisal, I'm going to.

I really want to give it to her tomorrow, but I can't get to an appraiser until Saturday.

Would it be cheesy to give it to her, but then tell her I want to get it appraised?

  1. I think it's fine :)  As long as you're more flexible with the idea, remembering that it's "hers" instead of "yours" after the proposal- it's all in your tone of voice - but I think it's a lovely idea to propose to her when you want to, and suggest to her that you get it appraised afterwards :)  Best wishes!

  2. if you have the perfect plan...and she is the perfect girl, then no it's not cheesy...it's responsible to ensure it's appraised in the event it gets lost or stolen somehow...she should appreciate the gesture...but maybe you could be cute about it, (take her to lunch borrow it her being fully aware.. and then place it back on her perfect finger at dinner. walla an excuse to see her more!) good luck!

  3. Normally, I would suggest to get it appraised first, but if you really want to propose tomorrow, then do it. It doesn't take that long to get it appraised. Try taking it today, maybe you can get it done quickly.

  4. i would wait to give her the ring, bc think about it if someone gave you a car and then said i need it back for a few days you'd be like wtf??

  5. You take her with you, and they can do the appraisal while you wait, holding hands and giggling. It doesn't take two days to appraise a ring.

  6. I would wait.  That would show more maturity and responsibility.  After she says yes, hopefully, then once things settle down, you can tell her that it was appraised, insured, or whatever else you do.  Then she will see that you thought the whole thing through, rather than a last minute spur of the moment thing.  HUGE difference.

  7. no you are doin it for her so she shouldnt mind

  8. I wouldnt want to give mine up for a few days... but if u have your heart set on tomorrow then go for it..

  9. You dont' have to take it away to get it appraised. Just both go and it takes like 10-15 minutes if you have a cert jeweler do it in house. That's what we just did last week. My ring appraised for over $10,000! YIKES! But really, it shouldn't take a day AT ALL.

  10. just get a simple ring. its all that matters  !

give her other ring later if you like ?
