I'm talking about the protective gear which is quite similar to kendo armor. Thanks!

  1. Yes, it depends on how you are trained. Now a days most 'modern' Filipino martial arts clubs only wear helmets and hand protection(New MMA school's,copy cat Dog brothers style's etc.), although it helps in mobility, when they do compete in an international level (were armor is required) they pale in comparison to the other athletes.

If you do want to train in for a tournament, i suggest you do invest on a Arnis armor to train with. Its more hygienic (it gets sweaty) and you will get used to the armor if you train with it.

You  been asking allot of Arnis questions, I hope you found a Arnis school to teach you and not rely on the answears here.At least you can train in a facility were you have a chance to compete. Don't just be all talk my friend.

    Take care,

    Phil
