Is it common for a sole proprietor to have to go back and forth between having a "day job"?

As my own business grows, I am still finding that I need to go back and forth between having a full time "day job" which impacts my ability to grow my business and even service my existing customers. I'm simply wondering whether this is a common thing.

Based on my experience, yes. While my business continues to grow (albeit slowly now) I had to return to my "day job" just to pay for health care insurance.

Yes, it is very common unless you had alot of money to start with that you could live off of while your business grows.
