  1. Not sure, but my ascendant is the same as both of my children's sun sign.

  2. No, not really............this is the area of Astrology that I have studied and enjoyed the most..........will be back to answer later.

Well, I see I have 2 TDs without even answering.  I don't think these are from you Yeshua, but on the off-chance one is, please just delete me from your contact list, and I won't bother answering your questions and no hard feelings, okay?

The wheel is a reflection of the circle of life; one life and also many generations.  In the wheel, you can see parents, grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers, nephews, in-laws, etc. etc.

For example, look at your own chart and follow along.  If your mother was the primary caretaker in your household, move the wheel so that the 4th house is on the ascendant.  This is her personality which has a profound effect on your own personality, either the ascendant, the ruler of the ascendant or planets in signs therein - you will see this in either your own rising, sun, mercury, venus, moon sign or mars (all the personal planets)  What is now on the 4th house cusp is her mother (your maternal grandmother) and what is on the 7th house cusp is your grandmother's mother and her husband (your father) and so on.

Okay, go back to square one.  Now, if your father was the authority in your life, move the wheel so the 10th house cusp is on the ascendant.  Now, what is on the 4th house cusp is his mother (your paternal grandmother) and what is on the cusp of the 7th house is his spouse ( your mother).  Again, you will see the cusp sign, ruler or planet therein in either your sun, rising, moon, mercury, venus or mars sign (all the personal planets)

Okay, move the wheel back to square one again.  This time move the wheel so that the 5th house cusp is on the ascendant.  This is your child, specifically the first born.  In his/her chart, you will see the everything that is in your 5th house (now moved to the ascendant) in his or her chart as the personal planets.

So, in summary, it is more common to have the same or similar  Asc/MC, parent - child signs; much more so than to have the same or similar Asc/Asc or MC/MC, parent - child signs.

I hope I have been clear with these thoughts.

  3. I don't know, but I've wondered something similar actually. I've noticed that people often have links in their charts with their parents... not necessarily the ascendant and midheaven, but one example I know is both a mother and son who have venus in the first house.

I wonder if astrology also represents genetics in this way. A charming mother has a charming son... I'm sure this type of thing could occur with the ascendant and midheaven as well.

  4. This subject is an area of interest for me because I like comparing charts in families. I've not seen any strong connection to parents and children having the same ascendant and/or midheaven. That doesn't mean there isn't any since I haven't studied millions of charts. I think there could be though, and here is why:

What I have noticed is that there is a connection between planet placements in charts. For instance, I have Neptune conjunction Moon on my ascendant, and so does my father and my son. My husband's father also has this same exact placement.

My mother and I both have Jupiter in the 4th house, and over time we  were the ones who eventually inherited the various family properties and savings.

Further, my son's Mercury, Venus and Sun in the ninth house match my husband's Mercury, Venus and Sun in the ninth house. My mother had Mercury, Venus and Sun in the ninth house. My husband's father and mother have Mercury, Venus and Sun in the ninth house. My father had Sun, Mercury and Venus in the sixth house, and so do I.

My sun is 24 degrees Pisces and it lands exactly on my husband's descendant (marriage partner) of 24 degrees Pisces.

My father's rising was the exact degree of Taurus as his mother's sun in Taurus, and my Libra rising is the exact degree of my father's sun in Libra. That gives rise to my father and I both having Sun, Mercury and Venus in the sixth house, but it sure is weird that we both have exact conjunction of Moon and Neptune to our ascendants.

Even more interesting, is to look at Saturn connections or to overlay several charts and compare them. Sometimes, it almost seems to me that something or someone knew exactly where he wanted us to be placed. I have no idea what the significance is in these chart similarities. It could be simply eerie coincidence, but I'm not satisfied with that dismissal.

To Janet: I am glad that you came back to answer in more detail. Excellent answer!
