  1. Yes.  With what housing and rent cost and that people in their early 20's usually don't have very well paying jobs, they really can't afford to live on their own.

  2. I wish I would have been smart enough to save money and live with my parents longer...I moved out at 19.

  3. Yes. I know plenty of people who live with parents still that are in their early 20's. Some are just trying to hold a job while going through school, or others just haven't moved out yet.

  4. Yes. Fairly common.....and as long as they have a job/and or studying their is absolutely nothing wrong with it.

  5. yes , many people i know still live with their parents as long as your not sitting around like a bum and help support and pay your own bills your fine

  6. With real estate being what it is, yes! Rent is so high in most places that its just financially smarter to live with parents until you can afford some other place. Now, that doesn't mean it is easy. You have to follow some rules, check in if you stay out late or come home late, and help out. And eventually, you should move out and get your feet wet by living alone. But is it common? Very much so!

  7. of  course  iam 27 now i was still at 21  and i no some one whos 36 this year and still live at home with her parents people will decide to live home when they are ready to

  8. Yes,  very common. I have friends that still live with their parents so they can save money and have a car. It is hard to live by yourself and be able to afford anything. If you have a boyfriend or girlfriend or a roommate you can afford to live on your own easier.

  9. It depends on what your definition of "common" is.  I am mom to 4 kids who are now 29, 26, 23, and 10.  My 23 year old still lives at home and my 26 year old has been out and back a few times.  Things are a bit different now than they were back when I was in my early 20's.  Marriage when you are in your early 20's is not nearly as common now as it has been in generations passed.  Many people my age left home because they were getting married.  Unfortunately, a large number of them are now divorced.  People are waiting longer to get married.  At least in the area we live in, the cost of living prevents many young people from leaving home as early as they once did plus the lack of good paying jobs is quite high.  College costs can be a reason for some young adults to live at home, too.  I know several families with kids my older kids' ages who are either still living at home or back living at home.  I also know several families who have married children who have children of their own yet are back living with parents because of illness or job loss.  I do think it is more common to have 20-something kids living at home than it has been in the past.  It works out OK for our family as our kids are pretty responsible and are usually either going to school or working and are respectful of the house rules.  They typically clean up after themselves well and help pitch in with household chores.  In our case, since we also have a 10 year old daughter, having an older sibling or two around the house helps out because it gives her someone to do fun things with plus they'll keep an eye on her if I need them to.
