I've heard this happening, and I know people are nervous, exhausted, etc. But how often do people pass out? Has this happened to you?

I'm getting married in October, and want to make sure everyone stays conscious! Tips?

  1. It is something that just happens. You will have no control over that. Just try and keep everyone calm. Especially you and the groom.

  2. I've seen it on tv shows, etc, but I've never seen it happen in real life. I think the best thing to do always is to keep yourself well hydrated, sober and fed with healthy foods.

  3. My sister nearly fainted as a bridesmaid - she locked her knees.

That's the key when you have to stand for a long time, DO NOT LOCK YOUR KNEES! I don't know why this is the reason for most people fainting, but it's true. I have seen it in marching band, my husband being in the USMC (he passed out when he locked his knees in formation - nice!) and then I watched my sister. Tell EVERYONE in the bridal party not to lock their knees when standing, they also should EAT SOMETHING before the ceremony so blood sugar levels are normal. Good Luck!

  4. Make sure everybody eats, no one locks their knees during the ceremony, and everyone is hydrated! For my wedding party, I'm giving them a personalized tote bag with a bottle of water, an energy bar, and some other goodies (like tissues and stuff)...to make sure that no one passes out!!

  5. Make sure everyone has a bite to eat the morning of.  Limit caffeine & most definitely alcohol.  Keep well hydrated  And what's already been mentioned.... don't lock the knees; must keep that blood flowing!

Your officiant should go over all this if you're having a rehearsal

  6. Just make sure to get enough rest the night before... and DO NOT GO WITHOUT EATING!!! Eating is most important. Try to eat a big breakfast because you might not get the chance for another meal until your reception. Keep a few snacks with you in case you get hungry.

  7. Yes, if you haven't eaten or drank water and have been dieting like nuts and are stressed, exhausted and overheated, then you're likely to faint. It depends on the person and if they're weak or have a history of such episodes.

Make sure to eat a grilled chicken salad the night before. Make a sandwich for when you're getting ready, take a power bar with you and some juice and water. If it's hot out, freeze a couple of water bottles overnight as well.

    All the best.
