I want to respond to a question online asked by a magazine company. Is it illegal to use a different last name than my own? I just don't want my information out there. Especially since the question might be published.

  1. no, its not like ur defrauding anyone

  2. no it isn't

  3. No. I never use my real name.

  4. Nessa, lots of companies sell your information, name address etc. if you spell your name slightly different on each subscription you will be able to determine who is selling your info and to whom they are selling.

  5. It's not illegal to use a "pen" name (kind of like a screen-name) or be kept anonymous. Many people use a fake name for magazines. Even authors have different names when the publish books.

It's only illegal if you use a false name for legal paper work, like IRS forms, Employment Applications, Credit cards, etc.

  6. No its not illegal, in fact its a smart idea so hat they dont have ur name to possibly scam u later

  7. Of course not.

  8. no.
