Question:

Is it considered normal to have bloody show at 31 weeks? ?

Hello. I am not sure of what is exactly going on down there, but it seems that my discharge (I know, I know TMI) has bloody show as well as being sticky and stringy looking. (Color wise- it is sometimes clear, sometimes yellowish and a couple times greenish (yuck!!!)) I looked it up and it points towards the loss of the mucus plug, which I did not experience until the labor process with my previous two pregnancies. I also read that it is something that happens anywhere from 36 weeks onward.

I can not call the doctor until Tuesday, so I am hoping to find out if it is okay to wait until Tuesday considering how early it is or if I should call the emergency nurse line. I am not having any cramping or contractions, so that is why I am not really worried. But I still feel weird about it and uneasy.

Thank you all in advance for your answers and help.

  1. What are you waiting for?---call the emergency nurse line, or go to the ER!!!!!!

  2. Totally normal.  It can come at any time at the last trimester.  If it is too bloody call.  And don't feel ashamed or stupid to call an emergency line.  That is what they are there for.  You don't want to take any chances so if you want to call then by all means do.

  3. i never had a bloody show that late on.  I'd call the doc.  some one must be on call for your doc who can help you better than we can.  I just jump to the fear -what if its preterm labor.

  4. yes its normal. i lost mine at 32 weeks

  5. if its your mucus plug going then you need to get to a hospital asap, the same happened to me and i didnt know if it was the plug or not and left it too long (i wasnt due my baby for 2 days) and got an infecton, once the plug starts to go your very vunerable to infection that can affect you or even worse the baby. Im 24 now and my boy is 4 but i never thought i was going to make it as the infection made me so sick, even though it was only a little over 24 hours i was exhausted with the infection i just gave birth to my son and was bed bound for a week. I was barely able to hold him and could not breast feed him which i did with my second for 6 months. seriously get it seen to now as it can be dangerous. good luck and congrats on your baby!!xx

  6. This could be a sign of early labor. If you are not having contractions, wait until Tuesday and go to the doctor first thing. You may have a stress-test and then they'll probably put you on bed rest. I think I had bloody show around the same time as you. I delivered within a week a healthy 5lb 13oz boy who's bilirubin was low, so we were in the hospital for a week. But he's perfectly healthy at 3-years-old! Good luck!

  7. No matter what time it is you can always call your doctor.  Someone is there 24/7, even if he/she is not.  Sounds like you plug but at 31 wks not always a good thing.  Another options is to call your delivering hospital and talk to the nurses in labor & delivery.  They know everything and advice you on what to do.  Better to be checked then sorry and since your mothers intuition is telling you something you should listen to it.  Good luck.

  8. your doc SHOULD have a on call doc if you are truley concerned about this BUT i would not worry about it until tues. i think there really isnt a specific time the plug comes out i mean i know its toward the end but it can come out all in one pleasant clump or over a few weeks so thats probabley what it is

  9. if your having ANY bloody show at all then you need to head to the ER. just because your not cramping or having contractions does not mean that you couldnt be dialating. IT IS BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY!!

my second child was a 30 week 6 day gestation preemie and had to spend 6 weeks in the NICU and that was after i got the steroid injections to develope her lungs.

the risk of having a preemie is no joke. PLEASE go to the ER NOW! like i said its better safe than sorry
