Italy is an incredible place to live! My husband is in the Military and we have been stationed here for two years, and we'll be here for two more.

The culture and history is amazing. It's so old, and it's weird how some of this stuff has been here for thousands of years, yet is still standing!

The Italian people are so loving and wonderful. We decided to live off base and rent an Italian house, and out neighbors and landlord's have been so great. They have taken us under their wing and treated us with so much love and respect. Because family is such a big deal to the Italians, they worry about us because we're so far from the rest of our own family. They have had us over for Christmas, Easter and a few Italian holidays. They also bring us mozzarella cheese every Sunday! The people here have made our time very special, and I'm sure they'll continue that until we move back home to the States.

If you ever get a chance, visit Italy! You won't be disappointed!

Hi,,,, it is so cool,, that everyone wants to live there,, and it takes 10 yrs to get a citizenship, it so cool,,, that it is the birthplace of modern science and the Renaissance... I go there about twice a year,,, and love every minute,,,,,

I spent a semester in Florence and it was amazing.  It was a little cold in January and February then had great weather to enjoy the sights until all the tourists showed up in June.

Yeah it's great. I'm american and have lived here (in giovinazzo, Puglia in the south) for a year and i love it! You just have to et used to the differences in culture. I found it's best to embrace these differences rather than just live with them. The only problem is that the beaurocracy makes it almost impossible to get anything done fast. You have to know all the right people to get a permit for anything.

My mom's family is from Ancona. I've gone every year since I was a small girl. (25 now), and actually I'll be going within the next few weeks. It's actually a dream of mine, to just drop everything here, and more there.. just for an experience outside the US. If you think you can do it... do it!!! Its the most gorgeous place in the world.. I currently live in Italy (about 2 years now). My husband is military and we are stationed in Vicenza (about 45 minutes from Venice). Personally I would rather be back in the states. I miss the conveniences in America. It is very hard to get used to the culture here. Everything is very slow and laid back. Almost everything closes for 2-3 hours for lunch and then around 7 at night. If it is Sunday you can forget going anywhere. Gas stations only sell gas, no snacks and sodas like in the states. Other than that it is good. I am very glad to have the experience of living here. It is a great place to live if you love to travel. Italy has so many points of interest you could spend weeks just sightseeing in Italy. I also love the driving here. At first it made me nervous but I have gotten used to it and it is great! After the culture shock wears off Italy can be a pretty cool place to be. I am so lucky to have been able to live here.
