our American friends would be astonished to know we have a senior judge, never elected who can free terrorists convicted by a judge and jury of the people. Even our weak government sometimes tries to defend us against these awful people, would you believe it they are straight away slapped down by an elderly liberal gentlemen who thinks he is doing best for "race relations" The very next day the yobs was sentenced for killing Gary Newlove, another elderly gentleman, the childrens commisioner, chose to speak about the device that disperses yobs. Do you think we should also have elected judges

  1. The problem is not with the judges as they go by what laws and how to interprit them as legislated by the elected government,What should be changed is how laws are set out,

  2. UK is a soft touch but the stupid dumb government won`t admit it: http://uk.news.yahoo.com/skynews/2008021...

  3. Judges don't make the law.  That's the job of our elected governments in Westminster, Edinburgh and Strasbourg.  The police, Crown Prosecution Service, magistrates and judges uphold the law.  It's up to governments to get the law right.  The Courts can only act on what it says.

Be grateful that we have an independent judiciary who can put right the mistakes of governments and juries and the prejudices of Sun readers.

  4. Which terrorists have been freed?

I've read about the 5 horrible young men that were put in prison for reading an extremists opinion.  Thank goodness we don;t live in a society for reading/writing an oinion however nasty it may seem.

If that were the case, how would YOU feel about being banged up for having strong views?

EDIT: Yeah, you're right - lock up everyone who has opinions that disagree with.  Reason you get these answers is depsite what your small circle of righwing friends say, sensible people make up the majority.

  5. Blame the elected government for being wishy washy and not enacting cclear laws

Blame the elected government for agreeing to implement laws made by the EC Don't blame those who have to try to administer the mess this government has got us into

  6. There should be a God over the land... A King or Queen, nothing else is fair everything else is to do with money.

  7. It seems a paradox, doesn't it? You are concerned about an unelected judge that freed some boys who had been sentenced to prison by another unelected judge. In fact ALL judges in UK are unelected, and,  therefore, independent  .

It is rather like reading a newspaper headline. Case stated. No reasons given. But there are reasons, aren't there? It seems that the first judgement was unjustified as no crime had been committed , and so the matter when to appeal, and three judges (not one elderly liberal gentleman) freed the boys, who, incidentally were not terrorists. It was further stated that the original judge had not given guidance to the jury, who were, therefore also misled. BTW. the weak government were not involved.

The Gary Newlove case, was of quite a different order, and is of no relevance to this other matter.

Either you are very confused or would like to be a journalist. I hope that you find your true calling.

  8. if you read my own questions on this subject and there are a few posted,

You will find that I am in full agreement with your thoughts, too many time have we seen sentences passed down that are -not fit for purpose- =And Continuing=,one of the problems is, as you say the judges. , But unfortunately that is a small part of the main problem =which are our outdated Laws we are still adhering to laws from the past century=  but no one seems to either listen, or care when a murder occurs,  disgusting
