  1. esoteric is not a clear word to describe someone

it may relate to magic and occult sciences

generally it means something deep, unusual

therefore if to say that someone is unusual, it's necessary to specify in what aspect

if to use esoteric as a synonym of knowledgeable or experienced it's not suitable at all

  2. Yes, that's an English word. It means "deep," or "profound," or "beyond the understanding of an average mind." That person would probably act like a genius, because no one ever really understands what they do.

  3. No.  A person with esoteric tastes is called an esotericist.

How would he/she act?  Like someone who knows secrets?

    wiktionary:

    esoteric

EtymologyFrom Ancient Greek ἐσώτερoς (esōteros), “‘inner’”) (esoteric originally referred to the secret (vs. public) teachings of Greek philosophers).

    PronunciationenPR: /ěsōtěr'ĭk/, IPA: /ˌes.əʊˈter.ɪk/, SAMPA: /%Es.oU"tEr.Ik/

    Rhymes: -ɛrɪk

    Adjective

esoteric (comparative more esoteric, superlative most esoteric)

Understood only by a chosen few or an enlightened inner circle.

Many Wikipedians are glad that the Sum of absolute transformed differences was not the 2,000,000th article, because it would've been too esoteric to adequately celebrate. Fortunately, it was article 2,000,001, while El Hormiguero, a Spanish comedy show, was the 2,000,000th.

Having to do with concepts that are highly theoretical and without obvious practical application.

    arcane

    recondite
