I am a US immigrant and my wife and kid is in asia. I'm not able to get them here soon. I heard that they can get a visit visa, when they state that myself as a husband is sponsoring them for the visit. Is that correct ? I'm an immigrant since 2 1/2 years, and i plan to file for my wife only after i become a citizen, and that could take around 2 more years easily. Do let me know of any other venues thru which i can be able to see my family with me here. Thanks.

  1. Your wife and kids can visit you on a Tourist Visa.

  2. It is extremely unlikely that any US consular officer would approve a tourist visa for them given your status here in the United States.

You should apply for your family now.  When you get your citizenship you will just inform the CIS and include proof of your citizenship.  They will upgrade the priority of your family.  Half the processing will already be done and they'll get here much faster.
