The company i work for, trashes thousands of boxes a week. I've brought this to my boss's attention before, he had little concern. I've even thought of taking the boxes to recycle them myself. I need to get an idea of how much a cardboard recycle bin would cost. (the biggest)

  1. Cardboard remains an economical to recycle product. What makes it less than economical is the practice of requiring that boxes be broken or cut down into flat sheets that are put in bundles. If a business has lots of excess time to do that task, it makes sense. But if the business is paying wages to do that, it makes no sense. Companies that receive thousands of boxes might use a mechanical crushing device that bales the cardboard, and make it a viable choice.

  2. The last place I worked we'd just set them out back and the recycling guys came and picked them up every day or 2 for free.

  3. Try selling them to a recycling plant. You can always recycle bits of cardboard by soaking them in water, then tearing em up and leaving them to dry. You can also press them while they are wet if you want papers. You can even add a bit of colour to the solution to make the product colourful. Hope this helps. Good luck!

  4. Where I live many recycle will give you a bin if you have enough material to make it profitable. My city will also give you a bin, because it is additional revenue for them. I would contact your city then look for large scale recycle centers to see if you can get a no cost to your business option. Go to www.earth911.org to locate recycle centers in your area. You may be able to save your business some money, because most garbage pick up is billed by weight, if you are taking tons out of the waste stream it could lower the garbage bill.
