  1. Well,  everyone is entitled to ask this question at least ONCE in his life-time....some more than once,  under special circumstances.  But one single person a "millionth time"???  Then he would have no time left to live life...meaningfully or otherwise.  Or million people at the same time?  Then maybe God would hear them and send his Messiah...

Still,  we,  the faithful believers,  have a fairly rough idea of Life's Meaning.  But why to waste it on Atheists and Agnostics???

So,  I leave that for you to find out.  Good Luck!

P.S.  It is not c**p at all.  It is the very essence of Life.  Capture it!!!

  2. Not as c**p if I tell you it's 42.

    Sorry, all the best..

  3. There is nothing wrong with asking this question repeatedly. There are infinite answers, so each time you ask you are bound to get a different perspective on it han you had before.

That's called learning, and it leads to growth, and those are good things!! So, no worries, okay? It's a great question!

Meaning of life: a baby sleeping in your arms, such trust is never seen in people outside of infancy....

  4. i ponder this all the time,

we fruitlessly go about life setting so many goals achieving soo much, yet essentially is it not all for nothing.

Perhaps we are simply like animals, from the outside seeminly content with what we've got continueing to do things because it is what we are meant to do as humans, that being to further the human race.

yet i believe perhaps life has no meaning, other than the meaning we each give it. the importance you put upon your own life determines its meaning, otherwise we are simply apart of the worlds many ecosystems

  5. its ok =)

well the meaning of life is to live it as happily as you can

everyone has a different goal to achieve if you try your hardest you pass the test =D

  6. The meaning of life is for life to have a meaning.

  7. The problem is that we reject the only possible answer, yet our human nature demands a real answer.

Meaning of anything is defined as a message that is being conveyed.  Nature is not trying to send us messages.  Meaning of life, therefore, is meaningless unless there is God.  If we reject God, then we reject the only possible source of meaning.

"the meaning of life is to live it as happily as you can".  This kind of answer is a feel-goodism.  Do we really think nature is telling us to live happily?  We know such an answer is just self delusion but what a good feeling we get from it.

But if we don't reject God, then we need to look to Him for meaning.  If you want to find the meaning of a painting, for example, you go ask the artist.  If you want to find the meaning of your existence, go ask your Creator.

And seeking our Creator is our purpose and the process of seeking Him is the meaning.

  8. The meaning of life is different for everyone, whether you 'choose' to live life of your own free will, or by the will of God.

We all hear the sound of a different drummer.

The meaning of life for me is most certainly God first.  Then comes my husband of 25 years, my six children, eight grandchildren.  I appreciate all of the blessings bestowed upon me be the Lord!  :D

  9. Life is like a lottery where you have many choices of combinations of numbers. However, there is only a few winners in each draw. Most people are losers in the lottery and so are they in life.

There are choices to made but there also chances to take.

  10. IT ALL STARTS WITH GOD.

The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfullment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness. It’s far greater than your family, your career, or even your wildest dreams and ambitions. If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God. You were born by His purpose and for His purpose.

The search for the purpose of life has puzzled people for thousands of years. That’s because we typically begin at the wrong starting point - ourselves. We ask self-centred questions like, “What do I want to be? What should I do with my life? What are my goals, my ambitions, my dreams for my future?” But focusing on ourselves will never reveal our life’s purpose. The Bible says, “It is God who directs the lives of His creatures; everyone’s life is in His power.”

Contrary to what many popular books, movies and seminars tell you, you won’t discover your life’s meaning by looking within yourself. You’ve probably tried that already. You didn’t create yourself, so there is no way you can tell yourself what you were created for! If I handed you an invention you had never seen before, you wouldn’t know it’s purpose, and the invention itself wouldn’t be able to tell you either. Only the Creator or the owner’s manual could reveal it’s purpose.

Being successful and fulfilling your life’s purpose are not at all the same issue! You could reach all your personal goals, becoming a raving success by the world’s standard, and still miss the purposes for which God created you.

How then do you discover the purpose you were created for? You have only two options. Your first option is speculation. This is where most people are. They just guess or speculate or theorize about the purpose of life. When someone says, “I’ve always thought the purpose of life is….,” they’re really saying, “This is the best guess I can come up with.”

For thousands of years brilliant philosophers have discussed and speculated about the meaning of life. Philosophy is an important subject and has its uses, but when it comes to determining the purpose of life, even the wisest philosophers are just guessing.

Fortunately, there is a better alternative to speculation about the meaning and purpose of life. The easiest way to discover the purpose of an invention  is to ask the creator to explain it. The same method works for discovering your life’s purpose. You can find what God, your Creator, has revealed about life in His Word, the Bible. Revelation beats speculation any day.

God has not left us in the dark to wonder and guess. He has clearly revealed His five purposes for our lives through the Bible. It is our Owner’s Manuel, explaining why we are alive, how life works, what to avoid, and what to expect in the future. It explains what no self-help or philosophy book could know.

God is not the starting point of your life, He is the source of it. To discover your purpose in life you must turn to God’s Word, not the world’s greatest guesses. You must build your life on unchanging truths, not the ever changing opinions of others.

The Bible says ‘It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, He had His eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose He is working out in everything and everyone.”

This verse gives us three insights into your purpose.

First you discover your identity and purpose through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Second, God was thinking of you long before you ever thought about Him. His purpose for your life predates your conception. He planned it before you existed, without your input! You may choose yoru career, your spouse, your hobbies, and many other parts of your life, but you don’t get to choose your purpose..

Third, the purpose of your life fits into a much larger, cosmic purpose that God has designed for eternity.

Point to ponder: If there were no God, and everything was a result of random chance, there would be no purpose to your life. It all starts with God.

  11. yer it is the most cliche question, but its not silly at all to ask yourself that all the time....

man y else would you be eating, chucking a shiit and living if you didnt know why... or worse, didnt care why...

probably should be asking that right now as im typing this up... but because im not, i dont even know why im answering this  >.<

  12. Probably, but if we excluded c**p none of our answers would qualify, would they ???  :o)

There is no meaning to life, it's just a random torture that some sadistic comedian thought up to amuse himself.

  13. The meaning of life depend on what you are looking for.

  14. no, what's c**p is people who relentlessly ask "why are atheists using the r and s section?"

  15. Well since your actual question only has two possible answers, the answer would have to be "No."

Now as for the question you are getting at, I saw a couple of good answers already, but I'd like to give you my two cents, anyway.

I'd like to start off by answering your question with a question... Not that I necessarily need you to answer it, but it's more of something to ponder in your own heart.

Do you ever wonder why no matter how much of something someone has, even if it's something they absolutely love, they are never satisfied with the amount that they currently have?

For example: Someone is a multimillionaire, yet you will still find that person trying to get more money. It's a lot like drugs. Even though the person may not be physically/chemically addicted to money, they still want more and more... they're never fulfilled or content with what they have.

The reason that is, is because every human soul is born with a void in it that only one thing can fill. And until it's filled with what was meant to fill it, we will constantly try to fill it with other things, unsuccessfully. We were created to have fellowship with out Creator. All the answers are there, and if you diligently seek the Truth, you will find it.

I'm sure you've at least heard about the story of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. God created Man in His own image... the very likeness of God. The whole reason God created Man was to have fellowship with him. But then Man did something that changed the course of history forever. He disobeyed God and ate from the ONLY tree that God had commanded him not to eat from. He was told that he could eat from ANY tree in the garden EXCEPT for the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. The serpent tempted Eve and told her that if she ate of the fruit from the tree, she would be like God, knowing both good and evil... beforehand, mankind knew nothing about evil. So Eve took a bite and gave a piece of fruit to Adam who was with her and he ate.

Ever wonder why humans die? Scientists are still trying to figure that one out. Well here's the answer:

Adam disobeyed God's commandment, thus bringing sin into the world. Sin then brought forth death. God cast Adam and Eve out of the garden and out of His presence. From then on, human beings have all been born into sin and therefore are separated from God.

Mankind became so corrupt in their wickedness and unrighteousness, that God decided He wanted to wipe out all of His creation... but a man named Noah found favor in the sight of God, because He stood for what was right. So God told Noah to build a huge boat because He was going to flood the earth. Keep in mind it had never rained on the earth before this time... All the plants were watered by a mist that came up from the ground.

So Noah did as God said and built a boat, facing the scorn and mockery of other people who said he was crazy. God then flooded the earth with a constant rain for 40 days and 40 nights. He stayed in the boat with a whole bunch of animals for about 150 days before the waters receded and dry land appeared... and Noah was commissioned, along with his family, to repopulate the earth.

Why don't we fast-forward a few thousand years for time's sake...

Mankind, of course became utterly sinful and wicked again. But God still loved His creation and had the desire to fellowship and commune with us. So He sent His only Son, in the form of Jesus Christ, to take upon Himself the due penalty for our sin and restore us to a right relationship with God.

Jesus went around doing good, healing the sick, cleansing the lepers, opening blind eyes and deaf ears, telling people about the Kingdom of God.

He was despised by the religious authorities and was ultimately nailed to a wooden cross, only to resurrect 3 days later. Then ascended to heaven about 50 days after that.

The bible tells us plainly in Colossians 1:16 "For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-- all things have been created through Him and for Him."

The whole reason we are alive is because we were created. The whole reason we were created was to have a relationship with our Creator. That's about a plain as I can make it... it's really simple. The meaning of life is to bring glory to God through a personal relationship with Him. And He really does love us.

Before you were even formed in your mother's womb, He knew you. His thoughts toward you are filled with love and goodness. Even in the midst of your pain and your suffering, He is there. Every tear you shed, He's bottled them up. He just wants to have a relationship with us.

  16. no ...your questions are not silly at all.

it is c**p if I keep answering this question forever.

    love

    Pluto

  17. No, if you are still seeking then still ask questions. For those that find the question to be repetitive, they have the option to skip your question and choose another.

  18. I ask that question many times myself. However I believe it is a question best answered by self. Yet it is wise to seek how other people answer such questions.

For me life is a way for us to reach a better self. In life we learn, we change, we are molded into a better person. If we learn nothing from life then life has no meaning. If all the experience in our life didn't change us into better person then it is a years of life wasted.

When at the end of our life, we could see to the past and say, "Well I have learn all I could learn, now I am the best I can be."

That is the definition of success, I think.
