I should give up dating for a while to form a personal relationship with God?

I just started trying to get right with god, and I haven't been single for three months out of 12, do you think I should give up dating until I get a personal relationship with god?

  1. Well...not sure you couldn't do both....but maybe God is trying to get your attention...so be sure to pay attention to that.

Getting to know God is just listening to what He has to say....in John 3:16....it is paying attention to His plan  which is why He sent His Son, Jesus to die for you, in your place....and He wants a personal relationship with Him.  Jesus said, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  No one comes to the Father, but by Me".  All you have to do is tell Jesus you need Him to be your personal Savior, and forgive your sin...then He does the rest....and God will look at His Son, instead of your sin.  It is amazingly simple...but it is also a committment to follow Him.....a child can find Christ...and so can you...then you are accepted into God's family, are His child, and He is always there for you.  '

Then you will want a relationship with someone who also knows Him...so maybe that is why you feel you should wait.

I can tell you...that God is real, and so is the realtionship you can have with Him, and with His Son, and with the Holy Spirit, who comes into your life.  All three are totally real and there for you.   God is just awesome  and amazing.  He doesn't promise you a perfect life.  He promises to take you through anything that happens during your life.....

He often works ahead of you...and later you can look back and say "Wow"....that is amazing!  So check it out....God's Words.... Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, John 3:16..

  2. I think that forming a personal relationship with God is a good idea. I think you should focus on that instead of dating. But if a relationship comes from ur pursuit of God there would be nothing wrong with that.

  3. No, you don't have to give up dating, but you also don't want an atheist, or someone who would thwart your attempts.

  4. I think that is fine.  Do what you have to do to get your life where you want it.

  5. What do you mean a "personal" relationship with God? Is he suddenly doing meet and greets I don't know about?

  6. Do whatever you feel is necessary whether it is to be with God or yourself

  7. If your in a serious relationship right now and you really like this person then just try to get them to help and become close to god as well. If your single or not too serious with the person your with then yeah it's fine to wait awhile. Hope this helped :)

  8. What you gonna do when you will establish relationship with God, back to dating? Wait a minute, what is all about, indeed?

  9. I don't see how your relationships should hinder your relationship with God.  Maybe you are just in the wrong sort of relationship...

So, maybe you should examine the relationships you've had to determine whether or not they are healthy, and go from there.  Like I said earlier, I don't see how a HEALTHY relationship would hinder a personal relationship with God...it should actually help!

So, it all depends, I suppose.

If you are feeling you should...it's probably best to go with your gut...but personally I think try for a better relationship.

    Hope I helped :].

    God bless <3.

There is always room for God in your life, with or without a dating relationship.

  10. exercise to meet God personally is futile, first because god is only a concept and not reality; secondly god is said to be formless and shapeless.

so, it is better u give up your futile exercise and attend to real persons in life.

  11. Yes, God is more important then your gf.
