My wife and I are considering teaching jobs in China. I've heard a lot about the censorship and religious suppression. We are Christians though we are not going to proselytize.

  1. Actually, there are a lot of Chinese Christians . If you are able to speak both Chinese and English, I`m pretty sure you would find a teaching job quickly.

  2. It is the Christians (those who force people to convert ie: If you don't believe in God; you will die) who is suppressing religious freedom not the Chinese government. Religious freedom is WANTING to convert not being force to convert. That is why many Christians groups who is trying to force Chinese to convert to their religious get a smack on the head.

  3. China is one of the safest countries in the world

if not to seek for troubles -- a peaceful life is guaranteed

  4. 1. China allows religious freedom. Anyone can believe whatever they want, as long as it isn't something that harms the country.

    2. There are Christian churches, Islamic mosques, Buddhist temples all over the place in China. Minority populations practice their own religions as well.

    3. China does not allow preaching. This is why they don't allow people to come in with a ton of Bibles or for them to distribute it to others in the streets. In other words, believe whatever you want, but don't try to force others to believe the same. If someone else wants to learn, they'll come to you.

In conclusion, if you're a Christian, you can continue being a Christian in China. You can keep a Bible, a personal one, no one's going to take that away from you. You can go to church as often as you like. However, if you come into China with the intention of converting people, then think again.
