Is it dangerous if I don't turn the oven off all the way?

I accidentally didn't turn my oven off all the way the other day.

I forgot to turn it off bake, and was sitting at about 50 degrees Fahrenheit for about a day. Did not notice as first since it was set so low.

Just curious if it is as dangerous as leaving it on full blast?

Or is it any more dangerous than having a fan running, or a lamp on?

I know it's 220 Volts instead of 110, but should be lower current if it's not set as high?

  1. it will set your house on fire

  2. I wouldnt suggest leaving it on all day on full blast. But I know just leaving it on low for a day wont hurt it. Unless your going to cook something that takes 20 hours... and your going to share it with us :)

The only problem you will find is a little higher electric bill. Sorry!

  3. The heating element won't even come on until the temperature gets low enough to trigger the thermostat, so you haven't caused any problem there.

However, the element is on full blast when it does kick in, a few thousand watts, until it reaches the thermostat temperature. Don't store anything in the oven.

  4. All appliances that generates heat like oven and electric iron are considered to be unsafe to be left ON.. But you said that it was set to 50 degrees F, that temp is not enough to burn or melt the inside components and so as those things surrounding your oven, and besides that the thermostat will keep it not more than 50. It also has a thermal fuse as added protection. The worse thing is that it consumed power just to keep it warm at 50 degrees.

Leaving it in full blast and nothing inside it, may radiate heat to the surroundings and burn things like curtain.

A fan has also a fuse, but the the friction by its revolution may generate heat, then spark enough to burn the plastic casing, and wires..
