your food? since i was young, my grandma used to tell me stories about how, if a lizard gets in your food while the food is hot or still cooking, the food will be poisoned and it will kill you. when i was younger, it freaked me out badly but now, im just wondering if it wasnt just a myth.. so does anybody know if its actually true or not? the lizards im talking about arent like the massive ones. i dunno what theyre called but you can frequently see them on the walls outside your house in warm countries in the middle east.

  1. Uhhh, Geckos. No Thats not true. My G-MA used to tell me the same story when i didnt behave. I looked into it and some lizards release a toxin when its frightend.

  2. Well I do not know what kind of lizard it is, and I would not eat anything that any kind of lizard was in.  There are poisonous lizards.  But even if it is not poisonous, it could be carrying a bacteria or something like salmonella.  Even if you could the food there is no guarantee that the heat killed all of any potential disease or bacteria.  I say the healthy thing to do is just start over.  I also would reconsider where I am storing my food if lizards are getting in it.

  3. If the lizard is brightly colored. It is poisonous-- as most animals are in the world.

    People eat lizards.

  4. There are only 2 venomous not poisonous lizards in the entire world.  They are both found in the southwest US and Mexico they are the beaded dragon (NOT BEARDED) and gila monster.  The only other lizard that can kill a human is the Komodo dragon and it's the bacteria carried in it's saliva and not a vemon or posion that kills you.
