  2. first of all wikipedia sucks! anyone can put whatever they want in there just try it yourself. El Salvador is as safe as any town anywhere. every country every city has it's dangerous areas and just like that El Salvador also has some of the most beautiful things you will ever see. Most of the things that you read now are things from the 1990's that people can't seem to look past them. The guerilla warfare was over in 1992 that is a very long long time ago. El Salvador is a great country to visit with alot of great people. you should look at tourism websites on the internet. half of the people that will answer you on here have never even been there, and have never even heard of it and i am sure that if you go on wikipedia and look at the sources that their information is based on it's from a long time a go. wikipedia isn't a reliable encyclopedia that's for sure.

  3. I was in Santa Anna two years ago and had a fine time.

Anyplace is dangerous. Your hometown is dangerous. If you take resonable precautions and stay in tourist areas or know where you are going or are acompanied by a friend who knows what's up,you shouldn't have a problem.

Don't wear expensive clothes or jewelry. Don't attract attention by being flamboyant. By all means learn to speak some Spanish. It won't help you if you can ask where is the bathroom?, if you don't understand the answer.

    Have fun..it is warm there.

  4. Guerilla warfare isn't going to be your problem, the peace accords were signed many years ago.

But like any country, parts of El Salvador are dangerous.

Gang activity is on the rise. Areas like Soyapongo for instance are pretty much off limits to tourists.

I have been traveling there since the earthquake in 2001, driven several thousands kilometers in that time and have not had any serious problems.

It would help to know exactly where in El Salvador you are going so you could get a specific answer.
