I'm told that my car (a Mercedes C300) needs an oil change badly, but I don't have time to take it in over the next week or so, is it dangerous to drive it?

  1. no, eventually the car will seize up, this will take a very long time and you will know well in advance by the noise the engine makes.

  2. for one i dont want a car that i have to pay 3 times as much for parts whats it take a total of 15 min you waste that much time masterbaiting

  3. Yes and the main word that you used was "BADLY" so yes it can ruin the motor.....

  4. Depending on how far you have driven it since your last oil change.  Your average car can run up to 5,000 miles between changes.  I would not recommend going much further than this without a change - maybe 6,000 MAX.

  5. If you are in a rush at least check the oil and make sure it is not low.  Running low on oil is a lot worse than recirculating dirty oil.

It is not dangerous, but it could damage your engine.

  6. No.you dont even have to do any oil changes, if the oil is still ok in the engine, regular oil changes are a good money maker for garages. As an ex truck driver,i can assure you that the large fleet operators, like AIR PRODUCTS etc, just take a sample of the engine oil and have it analysed, the oil is only changed when the lab says it is not fit. This saves them a tremendous amount of money,as the engines carry 7.5 gallons of oil.You could just change the oil filter and re.use the drained off engine oil with no detriment.

  7. Drop the car off and have them give you a loaner. No need to sit around and wait for work to be performed on your car.

  8. If your oil light isn't on, check your dipstick and add oil if you need some.  If it is on, add oil NOW.  A week shouldn't make any difference unless there are other problems, but get the oil changed ASAP.

  9. I suppose it would depend on how many miles you intend to drive your Mercedes C300 during the next week or so........there are always drive thru quick lube businesses and they usually open early. Heck take a few minutes, get it done and they usually give you a free coffee and newspaper to read.......voila! ... a mini-sabbatical!

I would take good care of that nice piece of machinery......change the oil often, the engine lasts and lasts......
