Is it dangerous to have a 2 seater convertible?

I really like the Mazda Miata MX-5. It's within my price range as well. Only problem is that it's a one seater. Now, I don't drive much..I'm actually very scared to be out on the road so I don't travel long distances. When my friends and I go places, I usually ask somebody else to drive, so not having a back seat isn't too much of a problem for be because I usually don't have anybody in my car.

I'm more curious about safety issues. Is it a death trap to have a two seater?

Pros and Cons will be appreciated.

Thank you.

  1. Don't get the car yet. You need a lot more practice, since you're so uncomfortable driving.

  2. Is it dangerous to have a 2 seater convertible?

The insurance companies seem to think so...  2-seater sports cars have very high insurance rates.

  3. itl be fine... my ka is more of a death car then ur plus mx5 is the uks best sellin 2 seater convertibla since it came out in the early 90s

  4. Yes it is safe...................

Safety equipment standard across the line comprises dual, two-stage frontal airbags; seat-mounted, side airbags designed to protect the chest and head; and anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution. The passenger-side frontal airbag has an on/off switch, and that seat is fitted with child safety seat anchors, or LATCH..........................

Cons: expensive to both maintain and repair...........................
