Is it dangerous to let a male and female "tie" or get stuck together ...?

  1. Yes it is.  If you allow the dogs to mate over a period of say 5 days, you're going to have premature puppies.  A very dangerous thing which, of course, any real breeder would know years before they even thought about breeding.

No, apparently there IS a need to tell you to spay and castrate since you obviously haven't done it.  What makes you exempt?  Responsible breeders who've done their homework and proven their stock don't have questions like this.  You really do need to alter both dogs.  You don't know what you're doing and you're going to contribute to the overpopulation problem.  Be responsible, please.

  3. Sure it's dangerous. They don't need to breed many times. You risk having puppies that are either born too early. You can have puppies that have several days difference in their ages. Which means when the puppies are born some could be too young to be born, and too young yet to survive.  

  4. Dangerous? Not at all. It's the natural ending of the mating process. Interrupting the tie can harm both dogs, such as throwing water on them to separate them. Why is this dog allowed to mate repeatedly? A litter can have more than one father.
