Is it dangerous to take buses in Colombia ?

Can Anyone tell me how safe is to take buses in colombia? I would take the main route: Cucuta, Medellin, Bogota, Cali and then go to ecuador.

Are there Guerillas active in those areas? Is it dangerous to take buses at night?

Such a route should be fine. Main highways are very secure in colombia these days.  Avoid buses in off the beaten track areas though - avoid such areas generally.

Avianca has an airpass that is very good value if you're considering catching a few flights within colombia.

I have been to Colombia many times and never had a problem anywhere including the buses.I personally wouldn't take a bus at night.You would probably be just fine, but then again you might be tempting fate.

I live in Colombia and there are police EVERYWHERE on the roads so you really don't have to worry. And those places do not have have much active guerilla. I have taken buses at night and have never had a problems. have fun on your trip visiting the most beautiful country :)

I´m from Colombia and I can tell you that if you want to visit my country you wont have any problem traveling by bus. Actually, There are  lot of police men in the roads, so don´t be nervous. If you need any information about Colombia (hotels, roads, dangerous places) you can write my ([e-mail]).
