  1. I am a paramedic and I was prescribed prescription strength ibuprofen for three weeks, I had no issues. So taking ibuprofen for a week will not harm you if taken as prescribed or as marked on the over the counter bottle.

  2. Continued use of ibuprofen has been known to cause internal bleeding, ESPECIALLY if you already have ulcers.

My doctor tells me that ibuprofen can effect the kidneys, so people with kidney problems should not take it.

  3. In small amounts, it is not dangerous.

  4. I do it all the time as I get headaches frequently from stress. I think it is okay as long as it's not continuous such as 3 weeks per month. And be careful of how many you take per day - if you take too many it will make you really constipated (and that can sometimes cause headaches).

Doctors will usually say it's okay, as long as you don't already have any stomach problems.

My familly who consists of a lot of doctors and nurses have always told me that if you're having menstrual cramps or headaches often, alternate between acetaminophin (tylenol) and ibuprofen - so, take 2 or however many tablets of ibuprofen then if you still have pain after 4 hours, take 2 or however many you take of tylenol...and then after the next 4 hours, go back to the ibuprofen and so on. They are made using two different kinds of pain relievers so it is okay to take so many of them - whereas if you did this with just ibuprofen it may be bad on your stomach lining or with constipation.
