Is it difficult to change steering wheels on cars?

I want to maybe switch the OEM one in the lumina on this car (IT's UGLY) to the OEM one from a Cavalier of the same age group. how hard is it? will they even match up? I just dont feel like sepending 100 bucks and finding out it wont work.

  1. The steering shaft is the same, and the wheels will interchange, but keep in mind, chances are the horn buttons, and if it has airbags, the clock spring is different and may malfunction.  


  2. yes it is on the newer cars with air bags cruise control.older car is easy cause all you had was a horn & turn signal

  3. too many computers in the cars now don't risk it it could cost you if the air bag cant deploy

  4. On the newer cars with the airbag in the wheel it isn't advisable. Definitely not a DIY job with an airbag. Also some of the wheels have controls for radio, cruise control, lights or whatever which complicate it.
