Question:

Is it difficult to change the jets in a Coleman hot tub

I am about to purchase a used hot tub and was told that the jets aren't very strong. Is it difficult to change on your own and/or expensive? I have someone who lives with me who is a "handyman" and just built a huge deck onto the back of my house. He knows a little about everything including electronics and mechanical.... I am thinking he could figure it out, but wanted to make sure it was worth it for the deal that I am getting....or should I spend more on one that works well?

Thanks

  1. Wired is correct in that it is not the jets for the most part.  By the way if you turn the outside ring of the jet counter clockwise it will eventually click and then you can pull it straight out.

Now for more power(better flow rate), look at the spa's main pump and or secondary pump and replace it with one with more hp and flow rate.  Knowing their tubs I would replaced it with a 56 frame Executive (Waterway) 5hp 2 speed pump for pump #1.  It's very easily done.  Just make sure you get the proper sized Wet end for 1.5" or 2" pipes.

  2. It might not be the jets, it could be the pump so more expensive than you think.  If you have a Coleman dealer around, go look at them and ask about maintenance, including changing the jets.
