Is it difficult to drive from Cancun to Guatemala?

No driving there is actually fun if you can put up with bad roads. Get a jeep.

But it is not that bad, really. People are friendly as you travel. I have done it, enjoyed it and I am sharing my experience with you.

cancun-guatemala around 8 to 10 hours the road aint that good or safe, if u wanna c pyramids go to chichenitza 2 hours from cancun, nice and safe road.

The best way to go to Tikal from Cancun is through Belize.  Plan your trip with many stops, many beautiful thing to see a do in your way there.

The roads in Belize are not as good as the roads in Mexico.  The road from Cancun to Chetumal is an easy drive,  But once you cross the border, you have to do more watching for pot-holes and you have to drive half the length of Belize to get to the Guatemala border.Occaisionally there are banditos on the road from Guatemala to Tikal.  I would recommend exploring the Yucatan peninsula to see a bunch of the ruins that most tourist don't get to see like:

Kohunlich

Edzna

Kabah

Sayil

Labna

I think I would plan a vaction to Belize next year to see all the sites in Belize and then drive from there to Tikal.
