Is it difficult to find a venue for a wedding that's close to Christmas?

I'm wondering if there tends to be a LOT of weddings around Christmas or if it may actually be easier to find a venue on a Saturday around that time of year.

  1. The wedding season is pretty concrete: April through October, so anytime outside of those months is much easier and cheaper to find any kind of vendor, be it a caterer or a venue or photographer.

The only problem I can foresee during the Christmas season is companies holding their corporate holidays parties at places like hotels, banquet facilities, etc. I know that when I planned corporate events a few years ago in NY, we had to book our holiday party space 8 months to a year in advance. But that was also Manhattan. But as far as weddings, December is definitely one of the unpopular months, so hunt for deals and ask for price breaks on venues and food/beverage.

Hope that helps. Good luck and congratulations!

  2. Well, consider Christmas and holiday parties as well and you may need a bit more than the standard time in advance. If you plan about 6 months to a year ahead of time it may not be too difficult. If you are under 6 months you may run into a lot of scheudling conflicts. A good idea would be to have two dates in mind in case the first one is taken.

    Good luck!

  3. You're going to have to compete with the corporate parties during the holidays, unless you get married RIGHT near Christmas. We got married Dec.1 and had to book a year out to reserve that date at a golf course. Remember, there are only so many Saturdays in December, and your attendance might go down because people often have other plans during the holiday season. The bonus is that most places are already decorated beautifully so you won't have to spend your money on decor!

  4. Weddings aren’t your only problem. Lots of companies hold parties for their employees or patrons around this time and you’re usually competing with them for the same venues.

  5. Hi.  Well, there may be a few weddings, but generally this is a slower time for weddings.  HOWEVER, what you ARE going to run into are places booked up for Christmas parties!!  Some companies book the same venue, same room, from year to year.  Christmas parties will begin around the last Saturday of November and go all the way through December with Friday and Saturday bookings.

So, if you are wanting a wedding at that time of year, it is best to book early!!
