Question:

Is it disturbing, inevitable, or both, that there is nothing artistic listed below?

These are, supposedly, the jobs/careers that will always be necessary. Are artists the only ones that find themselves necessary? Are we really, in fact, unnecessary to culture and society as a whole? What do you think, and why?

Thanks all!

  1. Artists will always be unappreciated, despite the fact that the work of "artists" touches nearly every facet of our lives.

An artist designed the clothes you wear, fashioned your breakfast cereal, conceived this very website. And yet, the value of creativity has been overlooked throughout human history.

Ironically, it is often this very societal dissonance that fuels great art. Therefore, art by nature, is forever a labor of love and obscure privation simply the artist's cross to bear.

  2. the reason that they are deemed unnecessary in my opinion is that they arent critical to a persons survival.

which makes me wonder about the necessity of a barber and religious leader. i dont think those are a necessity.

art is a luxury ina a sense. as in you dont need it to survive. but it makes surviving a whole lot more enjoyable.

i think as long as there is a spirit of freedom and creativity in people- art/ music/ literature will always be a nessesity.

with out it your just living a bland life, everything is the same. and there really is no culture. a world with out art makes me think of the book 1984. sure wed be alive and surviving. but without freedom- and without creativety.

so sure we dont 'need' art to survive. but with out it i think the enjoyment and appreciation for life fades.
