Is it dumb to name a pet after yourself?

my mother and sister keep criticizing me because i've chosen to name my puppy after my middle name, is this odd?

No it isnt. Just simply tell your mother and sister that thats the name you have chosen and you would like them to lay off a bit. Where as if youname it after your first name it can get difficult as when your name is called  your pet might think they zare calling it. and it can respond and get a bit tricky. Hope i helped.
