Question:

Is it easier to criticise feminism from the inside or the outside?

If everyone agreed that feminism meant equal rights and that they were, by that definition, a feminist - wouldn't it be easier and more powerful to criticise feminist beliefs / actions we didn't like?

I often think the 'anti-feminists' are shooting themselves in the foot. If you say 'I'm a feminist, and I don't think that is fair' it seems to me to carry a lot more weight than saying 'I'm an anti-feminist, and I don't think feminists are fair'. What do you think? :-)

  1. if feminists really wanted equality, they'd have called themselves "humanists" instead. feminists will always have lopsided issues.. every witty individual can come up with something negative an issue (anti-feminine) in almost anything.. and that's really a girlie thing to do.. most men won't dive in that river, simply because it sucks just looking at the attitude.

  2. Well, I see plenty of feminists who don't seem to admit that some of them are unfair.  I always get that one feminist who tries to justify 100% of feminists' actions that have ever been done when I ask a question about it.

I don't know which is more fair really, but criticisms from the inside always carry more weight than those from the outside of any group.  It makes people stand up and take notice when one of their own is bringing up a point.  Outsiders are usually just blown off for complaining.

But that won't- and shouldn't- stop people from complaining about something that really needs to be complained about.

  3. It's easier to do it from the outside because the guilt factor is basically eliminated.

  4. There is 40 years of hypocrisy, anti-male sexism, and lies.

    Inside, Outside, Besides...

    Doesn't matter.

They laid out enough rope to hang themselves 50 times over.

I wonder why the "feminists" never bothered to excommunicate these ladies from the movement very loudly and publicly they way they voice the things they truly care about:

Feminists don't mix words when they have something they care about.

They're not exactly known for sitting quietly when they feel the need to change something that needs addressing.

Strange how radicals have a nice cozy home in mainstream feminism.

Notice Dworkin's quotes.  Here's what NOW thinks of her:

...So it's pretty d**n easy.   ...Period.

  5. i don't know why we can't just discuss particular issues without lumping everything together.  it's like i can't recognize discrepancies in equality if i call myself a feminist.  i don't automatically assume an ant-feminist is a misogynist, why do they assume i'm a misandrist.

  6. For the first time there is hope in the feminist world.  Rule number 1 on politic's is create a bond with whom you're trying to change.  All the people that start off saying men are pigs and we should change get their tires cut, metaphorically speaking.  So yes, saying your feminist and criticize them in small ways you'll get alot more accomplished.

  7. from the outside..i believe.......

  8. It will be really easy to criticize feminism when the majority of the people on earth are feminists.

Same as it is with Christians and white people.
