Is it easier to remove a bold (like drain plug, etc) in a hot or cold car. why?

  2. Especially if it's a steel bolt in an aluminum drain pan,

    it will be easier to remove from a hot engine.

    The aluminum expands faster than the steel.

    Do be careful though, hot oil burns you.

  3. Do you mean bolt? A bolt will come out easier if the material around it is hot. Metal expands with heat, thus loosening the bolt. However if the bolt and the metal around it are heated, it won't make much difference.

  4. to me it makes no difference. hot metal is just another thing that you try to avoid getting injured by. cold is a welcome environment.
