Is it easier to write about yourself...?

No, not at all. When writing about myself, I tend to have the 10 personality defenses on alert and that is somewhat inhibiting and churns bland. I prefer to write about a totally different fictionalized self but I do not feel the pull of an alter ego. I don't deny having an alter ego, but I assume she is also protected under the 10 rules of personality defenses.

It's harder for me to write about myself even if I rename and everything because then I'm selfconcious about people reading it.

i always wrote about my self but in a differnt charecters position. its funn:)

but to write about your self as your story you have to know who you are. and not all people do.

I haven't written anything autobiographical as yet. But of course I have put small elements of myself and my life experience into fictional characters.

For this reason I think even fictional characters can be partly autobiographical, intentionally or otherwise.

I believe I would find it very difficult to write directly about myself in a book. Perhaps too painful to face a lot of what has happened, especially in my early life.

For me, writing about the "real" me is the only way I can express it. Sure I embellish a little but ultimately what I write is honest about the way I am.

I always end up writing about the person I wish I was...someone like me but more...confident...and now that I think about it, I'm getting there all on my own and I don't have to just write about it anymore :)

It is very very difficult to isolate what I can think about myself. Whatever I think are always about things other than self.

I reckon I have fictionalized myself enough in my own mind throughout life to be suitably detached from who I really am already. My character has been colored, redefined, cropped & rendered so many times, I have endless files to choose from.

For me, it is easier to write about myself. I value self-actualization and though I think it is not something completely attainable, I strive to understand myself. I think it would feel foreign to me to write about a fictionalized self that is fragmented from who I really am. Some people may be more comfortable with this, but for me I respect who I am and also by writing who I am, I constantly increase my understanding of myself.

I've written stories using a fictionalized version of myself (not really me, but roughly based on me). I found that easier to do than to try to really write about myself.

My resume is made up of real things about myself, but I've had to do many re-writes in attempt to emphasize the position I seek while remaining accurate. That's hard enough, I wouldn't be tempted to attempt an autobiography.

It is the most painful, excruciating experience to write about oneself.  If it isn't, you're not a writer.

its easier to write fictionalized version of myself, my real self is more complicated..theres an irony on that one, my real life is factual but then again what is there to tell me what is fact and what is fiction when almost everything thats going one with me seems hard to accept.

i think a fictional character inspired by myself is easier for me because i can make him who i want to be.

i think it is harder to write about myself because there are some things about myself than i cant explain or dont even know, and some things that i really dont like about myself. dont get me wrong, i am perfectly happy in myself, there is just some parts i would like to change sometimes.
