I'll be graduating from college in one year and was interested in seeing another part of the world. I originally wanted to relocate to Germany where I have a lot of family but the language barrier would prevent me from doing so. I'm currently studying economics and have been working in a bank for several years. I wanted to know what the job market looks like over there and if companies regularly discriminate against Americans (heard from a friend).

  1. You need a work visa to work in Europe.  You can't just pop over there and get a job.

  2. You do need a work visa. There are 2 ways you can qualify. Check out the official web site below.

  3. There are jobs available in your sector of work, but bear in mind you'd need a work visa, so you'd need an employer willing to sponsor you.

  4. Yes very.

  5. I think ANYONE can get a job in the UK, despite America supposedly being the place for everyone from everywhere, the UK lets people in way easier...then again, not part of the EU...

Oh and I don't reckon they'd discriminate against you, as long as you offered as much as anyone else, and said crisps instead of chips lol...

  6. Yes, I don't see why not. It completely depends on the job you want to do.

  7. you can get reasonably paid employment in my part of UK (Scotland) anyway and despite what you have heard we already have a large contingent of Americans here already -- working and fitting in no problem.

I would also encourage you to go to Germany as second language is English over there --- as a result of all those American and UK pop music records I think.

please email me if you are coming over and I will set up some people to help you fit in.
