I like to mix both careers. Is it possible? I like to write about cultures.

  1. It is necessary. You cannot report on the human condition without the study of the human condition or knowing about it.

I lead you to one the greatest anthropologists of our age. Margaret Mead and Wade Davis in their own way not only chart the state of humanity but its implicit mutations in culture. While not journalists they did and do write volumes effecting the view of humans about humans.

Its not  a leap. Indeed it is what you are supposed to do.

  2. I have a BA and an MA in Anthropology and am an adjunct professor while also having many articles published in papers.  I don't find it very difficult to get freelance writing work with my Anthropology- they work very nicely together- "human interest" stories are popular and I feel very qualified for them.  I actually wrote a cover story for a local paper based on my thesis research.

  3. If you are any good at writing then both do compliment each other nicely as many anthropologists write for different magazines or do their own writing for their own works.  YOu need to look into universities that offer double degrees or you could major in one and minor in the other.
