Is it easy to exchange Mexican Pesos to Cuban Pesos in Cuba

I am going to Cuba from the US but I have Mexican Pesos from a trip to Mexico. Will I be able to exchange them for Cuban Pesos without a problem. I am going to Cuba legally via Miami.

  1. Yes, they accept Mexican pesos. But you won't really get much in the conversion. It might be better for you to exchange USD (even though you'll be charged a fee and may lose in the conversion...but it won't be as much as from Mexican pesos to CUC.

    Basically, 1 Mexican Peso = 0.09128 Cuban Convertible Peso.

    However, when changing back, 1 Cuban Convertible Peso (CUC) = 10.95502 Mexican Peso (MXN)

    If you can change your USD to CAD before your trip, it'll be better for you and you won't be charged for conversion in Cuba.


  2. you wont get a good rate for mexican pesos but its not a problem to exchange all hotels and banks  will do it as will the airport,, the bank rates are definatly the best,, canadian dollars give u the best value for everything other including uk pound u get ripped off and USD is totally outrageous

  3. If anyone has the chance to bring anything changeable in Cuba but Mexican pesos…they should. Mexican pesos sometimes have a much worse change rate than even the USD
