I'm going to Croatia in a couple of days and I've decided to get Sterling travellers cheques because my bank charges loads to get money out in ATM's abroad. I was wondering if it is easy to exchange travellers cheques in Croatia? Are there lots of places to do it and are they open throughout the day?

  1. Poor decision. Banks in Croatia will change your sterling travellers cheques. They will charge a fee for doing this and you will get a poor exchange rate as well.

Suggest you change to Nationwide Building Society for your bank account and use their debit card when abroad. No fees, and instead of the am ex tourist rate you will be given the mid rate for your currency with drawls. This means you will get around 4% more foreign currency for your pound than anyone else can offer.

  2. It is increasingly difficult to change travellers' cheques in ANY country these days. You can if you find a big bank branch, and they will often give you a poor exchange rate. You may find that the ATM way works out better. Have you thought of changing your bank?
