Is it easy to find a job in London?

Question

I'm estonian (an Eastern European Country, member of the UE). I would like to go to London in less than 6 months. Is it easy to get a job in London? (any job, I can work as a cleaner, gardener, I can work in a café as a barman, in hotels, restaurants, etc). How much time do you think I will spend until I get a job?

PS: I have just a little experience (I have being working as a cashier in a Supermakert here in Estonia)

its very hard im in south east london and ive been looking for a job for almost a year, theres so many people and not enough jobs. but im sure there are places that will give you very basic jobs to start off with.

You will get a job instantly. Either working in a bistro, or as a cleaner in a holding centre for immigrants. Either way, you'll get very little pay, and be evicted sooner or later.

But only if you are foreign or you have a minimum of a Masters degree and 500 years experience. But thats the UK all over now

I can't actually remember the last time an English person served me at a coffee stall or in a sandwich shop so I guess if you speak english and are keen you will be able to do so, unless the rules are tightening up.

BUT beware of trickery, especially if you are a female. There are all sorts of horrible stories about young east european women being kept prisoner by other east europeans and forced into prostitution in England, forced into s*x with dozens of men each day here in England. They were told they were going to be waitresses etc. when they left their country.

You might want to try to get a job through the official UK job agency - www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk. You can even look for vacancies online there!
