Is it easy to find accommodation as you travel through Tunisia? Going in July & would prefer not to prebook?

We're a couple going to tunisia in middle of July for two & a half weeks. Hoping to spend a couple of days in the desert. Want beautiful beaches. Would like to see a few different destinations like Sousse, Djerba, etc. Half sightseeing & half relaxing holiday. Want to do it relatively cheaply. Flying into Tunis.

  1. Summer is busy season here in Tunisia, and a lot of hotels fill up pretty quickly. Because of this, you are less likely to get good deals when you just walk-in without a reservation. It's hard to say how full places will be because it's always varying. If hotels are full in a certain city, you might have to try going into another city to find a vacancy. This can be harder when you are in the South. Also, know that in some areas, the good hotels may be sold out and you will have to settle for staying in a hotel that may not be up to your standards.

My husband was in Djerba last week for work. The few hotels that his company usually sends them to were already full so they had to stay in a lower class hotel.

Since you said you would like a half-relaxing and half-sightseeing vacation, you could always book a hotel, and then opt to take an excursion. Hotels offer a variety of excursions lasting different time lengths, and that go to various 'hot' spots here in Tunisia.

If I can be of any more help or assistance, please feel free to contact me.

  2. I think it would be alot cheaper to book before you go!

When living over there to stay in a hotel booked there was soooo expensive then when i returned to UK some hotels if ur looking for a bed and brekkie you can get some for around £5-£10 a night!

    Good luck in ur travel
