  1. Yes it is.

If you are arriving with a train, exit towards the doors.

Look for signs above the doors, or on walls, or above passage-way entrances.

The Metro station at the "Gare du Nord" train station is an intersection of 3 Metro lines (#2, #5 and #7) and 2 RER lines (regional trains - B and D), so it is a good place to catch local public transport.

The Metro lines are marked by numbers (in a colored circle), and the RER lines are marked by letters.

  2. There are signs everywhere.  Gare du Nord is a busy station, so make sure you know where you want to go before you get there.  (for example:  need to transfer from RER B to Metro ligne 5 direction Place d'Italie).  That will help you not get trampled, plus you won't impede the people who might be in a hurry, and you'll feel more confident, too.

  3. i m not sure i understand your question correctly, you re looking for a metro station near the North station (gare du nord?) or somewhere else ? it's very easy to find the metro in Paris, you have a station everywhere within 500 meters max. And then you can switch from one line to another. you can spot the metro entrance with big yellow M signs. in most of the case you can be anywhere in Paris in less than 45 minutes with the metro, very efficient and i think much more easy than in the US. there are 14 lines and Paris is not that big. you have big "hub" station such as Chatelet or Montparnasse. if you need more information don't hesitate send a PM
