Is it easy to get a summer job in Ibiza ?

Question

Do the bars, disco's, and cafes in Ibiza hire much people to work in the summer ? How much time in advance should I try to aplly to a job over there ? And are there any websites that have a list of places hiring in Ibiza to work over the summer?

I would imagine so.  There are sooo many bars & clubs, they must need people to work there.  I was there in 2004.  Hey, at least you can party, party, party!

It depends on if you are in Ibiza stadt or San Antoinio in Ibiza Stadt you can get a job working in one of the big discos or handing out the little cards advertising the discos but in San Antonio it is a little harder.

Depends on where you are from.

If you are from a Common Market Country...there is no problem---they have to give you a work permission....normally with 30 days.

If you are from a NON-COMMON MARKET COUNTRY, it becomes VERY DIFFICULT.

Employers can suffer heavy fines if caught hiring people without a work permission. The process of getting a work permission can take over 6 months if you are from a non-common market country.

'LEGAL' employment in SPAIN is very costly to the employer.....not only in taxes but also in Social Security levies (over 400 Euros/month/employee)......so an employer must need your skills desperately to make this commitment. The type of contract is called a 'fijo-discontinuo'......it means that you are officially contracted for a minumum of 6 months.....and that you are covered

for Social Security and unemplyment benefits the other 6 months.
