  1. you take metro line 1(yellow),direction chateau de vincennes.a one way ticket will cost you 1.40€ or a carnet (10 tickets) is 10.80€ i think.it really depends on where you intend going although there is plenty of 'junctions' along the line to change at for north or south, concorde, chatelet, gare de lyon.hope thet helps.enjoy!!!!

  2. Yes take line number one toward Chateau de Vincenes and stop at Chatelet.

I had no idea La Defence had a coach station though it is business quarter.

  3. You have a choice of Commuter Rail (RER A) or Metro Line 1.

There are also Day and  Night Buses (day = line 73 night=Line N4)

Unless you are staying in La Defense there's not much reason for buying a five zone pass.

  4. There is only a bus station at La Défense, used by the RATP for suburban bus routes. The only coach station in Paris is Gallieni near Porte de Bagnolet on the other side of Paris and used by Eurolines.

It is close to line 3 of the métro (brown line on the métro map) nearest station is also called Gallieni, the eastern terminus of this line. It will take about 20 minutes to travel from there into the very centre of Paris.

The day pass valid on all buses/métro and RER trains is called a "carte Mobilis". It's available by zones and will save you money if you plan on visiting the sights in Paris itself. This is available from all métro station kiosks.

You won't need to get all of zones 1 to 5, I live in zone 5 myself and I'm about 40km south of Paris. Zone 1 and at the most 2 will be of use to you if you only plan on visiting Paris.
