Question:

Is it easy to get lost in Manchester Airport?

Especially as it's my first time flying with my family (before it was with school and I had much much more guidance). My family have never travelled on a plane before, and I am petrified of getting lost! Any advice of where to go in what order etc.

Thanks ^_^

(And we're travelling from Terminal 2)

  1. As long as you go to the right terminal, which is clearly sign posted then you'll be fine.  It's the dinkiest airport ever.

  2. Yes it's very easy to get lost, I've been here for three months now and still can't find the way out, but I've got an internet connection and a new job here in the airport so things aren't too bad, in fact I'm quite settled.

  3. it not that complicated, the terminal is smaller than others and it just depends how you plan to arrive, by train, taxi or parking your car.

Follow the signs for terminal 2 and go to check in with your flight company. You need to arrive good and early perhaps give it 3 hours before the flight is due.

You will need to go through departures, check in your luggage, passports and any tickets.

You go upstairs then to departures, passport control and security checks on hand luggage, there are controls on what fluids and sharp objects to carry onboard.

You then have duty free and waiting, shopping areas until your flight is called, if this is a distant gate then the walk can be 20 minutes so it is difficult for small children, elderly or wheelchair users.

Then more waiting at the gate before your allowed on the plane.

a safe and happy journey, take plenty to read, eat, drink and listen while your waiting. Try to stay calm and relaxed and enjoy the experience.

I will find you a link for the airport map and guidance.

    Bon Route  !

  4. Even pilots make a wrong turn and get lost. One did last week and ran into another plane.

I've lost my car in the multi story as well.

  5. Don't panic.  Everything is clearly marked with very good signage. You will go through Immigration first, show your passport and give in your entry card, which will be given to you to fill in en route by the cabin crew. Then proceed to baggage reclaim, past Customs and out the door. Some people are stopped at customs and searched for drugs etc. but very unlikely that a family would be stopped.

    Enjoy your visit.

  6. Ignore some of the previous comments. Manchester is not that big an airport in comparison to many others in the UK. I travelled in and out of Manchester airport the other week and found it easy to find my way around. Everything is very clearly signposted. With it being your first time flying and worrying about getting lost I would advise that you leave early and then you will not feel as tense and nervous, plus it allows you time to find the airport, terminal and get parked etc. Have a great trip .

  7. Yes. Many people last week got lost there and even today no one knows where they are. Maybe attach a string to yourself and the door so you can follow that if you get lost.
