Is it easy to install a garbage disposal?

My husband is pretty good at things like this but has never done one. Should he try to install one in our sink? Has anyone out there done it before?

piece of cake! just get the same size as far as horsepower. also be sure to knock the plug out of the hole in the new disposer where your dish washer drain hooks up to it. it basically butts up to the sink drain and there is a ring that twists on the the new disposer to make it tight.

First of all the first two answers left out a bit of info....you have to deside the type of disposal that you want...most are hard wired with a switch ...if this is the first time one is installed then you have to have a source of power...second is the waste pipe...do you have 1 1/4 inch pipe under your sink (most common) or 1 1/2  inch...As both of the first answers you got is the Knock out plug...(only remove if you have a dishwasher, if not DO NOT REMOVE....what this does is to drain the waste water from the dishwasher into the disposal and if you don't have a dishwasher and you knock out that plug you will get water leakage under your sink every time you use the disposal...If you really want to do this yourself most Home Improvement stores have How to books that are very good and would help you in doing this work...asking if it is easy to do...For me and a Plumber it is a piece of cake, but we know what we are doing, if you need more info you may contact me at [e-mail]

It's very easy..........just read the directions .........besure and get the type you want........also beat the knock out plug out before hooking up. And if you have a good looking mate standing right above you handing you parts and wrenches how can you go wrong.........good luck.......don't forget that you will need a switch and some power to run it.  bye
