  1. Yes, the narrow stance of the front leaves much to be desired in the way of stability. Any emergency manuver will result in loss of control and/or flipping

  2. Not if you know what you are doing. And if that other answer is talking about Piaggio's MP3 he is all wet. Those corner like a GP racer.

  3. You can crash anything if you try hard enough. I see people riding those 3 wheel Honda Gold wings and they are simply hauling on them. They look stable enough. Every machine has it's limits though.

  4. I would say no in theory. I have never driven one, so I cannot say for sure.

As far as I can see, a trike is much more stable than a bike as it has three wheels. Therefore the risks of you loosing control is a lot less.

For example, if you skid, you will remain upright and stable so you have a chance to recover (unlike on a bike where if you skid you are going down).

Also, if you have a blow-out, you have more of a chance on a trike because of that stability.

On highways, there are no sharp bends either so you don't have to worry about the ability to turn.

I cannot see an eventuality where a trike would loose control before a bike. It would be a bigger risk than a car though as it does not have the metal cage and is lighter and therefore more likely to skid.
