Is it easy to put vinyl siding over brick?

Question

I am looking at buying a house that is half stone, half ugly brick. Is it pretty easy for professionals to install vinyl siding over brick on an older house?

no matter how ugly the brick is , it cannot be worse than vinyl....could you paint the brick?!!

you can install vinyl siding over brick but you first must fir it out using 1 x 2's. it will be easier and cheaper to prep and paint the brick. go to a good paint store and tell them what you are planning to do so you get the correct paint.

I would paint the brick a more acceptable color. It would be cheaper and easier. It would be silly to cover brick with siding. I have never seen anyone install siding over brick.

Not only is it not easy, it may be prohibited by your local building code if you're in Canada.

But covering brick with vinyl is sort of like covering marble with Mactac. I'd suggest any other solution, including painting the brick or living with it (after all, you don't see it from the inside).
