Question:

Is it easy to sell an American vehicle in England?

We are a military family getting ready to move to England in the fall. We have a 2002 Dodge Durango that we would like to sell. A couple of people have told us that we might be able to sell it for more in England than here in the U.S. due to the fact that the English folks do not get many SUVs there to buy off of the lot. Does anyone have any advice/experience/input with this? Thanks!

  1. Sell it before you move...for a start England drives on the left side of the road and i think you would have to convert it to right hand drive if you are going to register it in the UK. also petrol/gas is very expensive in the UK i know Americans think their "gas" is dear but compaired to the rest of the world it's cheap.

  2. First, you have to pay to have it shipped to England, then you may need to have it altered for any environmental law differences.

They don't get many SUVs because they pay even more for gas than we do.  They don't want them.  Plus their roads are smaller, SUVs take up too much room.

    Sell it before you go.

  3. With the steering wheel on the wrong side, I would think that it would be of limited interest. Furthermore it is a little wide for some of the roads. But, who knows? Check further with people who have been there.
