  1. its hard we messed our up. so we got a comcast man to come and set it up

  2. Connect it to power

Connect it to the Phone/DSL line

    Go on my networks

    Search for networks

    In Properties, select Settings

    Add a security code.

    Its fairly Easy

  3. depends on your it knowledge,

    i think its really easy,

all you need to do is plug it in,

then connect all the cables together.

if you find it that hard im sure ull find a nieghbour that will help you.

  4. I actually just set mine up a couple of weeks ago.  I bought a white netgear router from walmart.   It was quite easy to set up.  Here are my tips:

-Disconnect all cables running to your current modem first.

-Use the disc that comes with the router, and follow the directions EXACTLY step by step.

-To secure your network, if u get the router I did, it will walk you through it step by step.  Just be sure to choose the option to set up your secured network with a wireless key (password)

  5. Any retail router you purchase will come with instructions on 'how-to-do-it.  It is actually pretty simple.

  6. They come with instructions. Follow them carefully and you can't go wrong.

  7. Yes it is fairly easy.

They come with a setup cd and it guides you through the setup process.

You can set up your password and name your network all during this process as well.

    Good Luck.

  8. Setting up wireless internet is extremely easy. I wouldn't even need to tell you how it's done. It comes with every single part you  need and then when you pop in the CD-ROM that it comes with, it'll tell you exactly what to do with a step by step instructional program that you go through. Good luck!

  9. no it is not so easy so kindly call up the company before taking up and if tht is not possible just try to have a engineer ready

  10. it is Very EASY, if you buy one the instructions might not be neccecary

You have to connect your internet Cable (The 1 Coming out of the Box Not The Modem)  And connect it to the router and your pretty much done unless your useing a laptop you connect The Usb To The Laptop and The Back of the ROuter

  11. Just read the instructions, that'll make it the easiest.

  12. yes i am only 19 and i did mine in like literally 20 minutes it gave me step by step instructions as i set it up..mine is a linksys!!

  13. y e s ... unless your retarded

  14. dude YOU can steal internet with a wireless :)

  15. Yes it will walk you through it I had problems with mine but it was because of our internet connection.

  16. It's easy but securing it is a little harder. The biggest problem you'll have is protocol.

Here is the key... on your router use WPA Personal. Then use AES.

(don't use any higher security protocol since many will not have anything higher than that and can't log on, such as WPA2 Mixed mode).

Don't use WEP as it is not secured from good hackers.

Don't worry about hinding the SSID. Wardrivers (hackers) can see packets without an SSID so it prevents no one except for legit people coming into your home wanting to access your wireless.

Most people don't have their wirelss secure. I can go down any street and find at least 3 houses where I can get access to the Internet. And most of them, I can log on to their router, and do whatever I want from changing their router password to chaning their wireless access.

So be sure to change your router password as well. Don't break your neck with a long password for your router... something that you can be sure to remember. Use a more secure wireless password, however.

Since some are giving confusing information... you need to set up your password (they call it 'Passphrase') in your router and when you first log on with your laptop or another wireless computer, use the same password. You will share this with people you want on your network. And select to automatically log on in the future.

If you really want it secure you'll need to go to IPSEC or other VPN solution.

    =======

Avoid the software install if at all possible. Use your browser to access the router interface... it will usually be an http://192.168.x.x

The control panle is burned into your router on a chip and not software related. They all have them and a CD is NEVER required like they want you to beleive. This is the only way you can increase your security and the software is for plug and play types.

This way you don't have a lot of monitoring software wasting your resources and taking processes away from your computer... along with constantly searching for updates.

First thing you do is "clone your MAC address." It's the address on your local computer that accesses your provider. You do this so you can get on fast and not have to request a new "lease line" for the router... IOW, your access provider will think your computer is longing on instead of the router.

Then you go to your setup screens. For your SSID, don't use the default and don't use something to identify your house. Name it something that is easy to remember. If you use the default you give hackers important clues to your hardwired that makes it easier for them.

Don't change the Wireless Channel unless you are getting a strong signal from a neighbor and you know what channel they are on.

As you get more familiar start using the Wireless Mac Filter to allow only you and other known computers to access the wireless network. This makes it most secure, even more than the VPN, but if a friend comes over, you will need to set up your router for his MAC address.

  17. YES but its very hard to explain sorry

  18. It is so easy just go buy one from best buy, It walks you through everything.

  19. i got a booklet with mine and the first thing i had to once set up was add a password which was step by step.
