I'm getting a pool this summer, and I am also going to be buying these mermaid fins from merfolktails.com, which have momofins in them, and I really need to know if they are easy to swim in. I'm not THE best swimmer, but I can swim fairly well. I'm just saying I don't compeat.

The fins cost $125.00, because they are very realistc and nice. Also because they come with monofins inside.

So PLEASE tell me how it feals to swim in them. Are they easy or hard to use?

Help?!

  1. Put on regular fins and do dolphin kick. That's almost exactly what they feel like.

  2. Honestly they are hard to use at first. Getting used to having both your legs together when you swim is the first real challenge and the second is swimming motions and turning. If you practice in shallow water or with a buddy and get the hang of what to do and get your body used to the movements then it gets a whole lot easier. If you have a ladder or something to hold on to us it practice kicking the fin and turning your body. Don't try to stay under water long at first until you are confident of reaching the surface or swimming to right yourself. It has a few obstacles to overcome since humans aren't made to swim with both legs together by default but once you get the hang of it just make sure you have something under the tail to keep it up otherwise you may just swim out of it. Develop the mentality of a mermaid and you will do fine, just don't swim too much at first or you will tire your legs out like you wouldn't believe.
