as a kid i used to hate the only thing that looked black on me- and it was my hair- my skin is very light so its not like i hated my colr- but my hair looks like a huge curly afro- i permed it- fried it- all that stuff- it was long then kept breaking off- and now its like this again- real curly and puffy and so many people stare it like its an animal on my head- and i am kind of ashamed of having my hair look like this- even if it is my natural hair- so many people could say its pretty- but in the back of my mind i hate it- and many times wish i had straight hair- i want to so many times straighten it- or wear a weave like many others do- but i feel so wrong for hiding my natural hair texture- because i am fooling no one with a weave or a perm-

here are some pics of what my real hair texture looks like-it looks like kelis' hair used to look-

i am tired of the stares and the comments i get- its like people want to beat out ethnic features out of people- your hair is so bushy- so nappy- so wild- do you comb it- is that your real hair- its never anything kind-

  1. I would just Love to have your hair, it makes you very exotic.

I have average blond hair and got so bored with it, it's always flat on my head and to get some volume in it I have to do alot and it won't grow at all...grrr.

If you really are sick and tired why not keep it really cropped short. I always find this really s**y on black women (and I am a girl and not lesbi)

    cheers :-)

  2. Does anything look good on an unconfident woman? Answer no.

I think natural hair goes against the grain at the moment to many people so girls and women who may have never been natural since they were children who suddenly choose to go natural are faced with many fears about the change. Honestly many people love afros and afro textured hair. Kelis is a hair idol to many women.

You have the most problems with your hair from trying to get it to do what it doesn't want to i.e be straight. Have you ever thought that your natural texture gained stares from strangers because it was full and beautiful? That all the curliness and puffiness was actually attractive?

People who tell you it is nappy and wild are ignorant and if you don't want them to drag you down with them you need to be stronger. At the moment the language you use towards your race and hair is both saddening and negative. It sounds as though you have either been bullied about who you are or no one has ever instilled pride in you about your features and hair.

You need to drop the skin colour issues. Light or dark, kinky or not, showing your black heritage or not, you are what your parents union made you and what you are meant to be. You can alter it and fight it as much as you want but your hair and race will never change and you should try to be happy with that.

You have to decide upon whether wearing something that's rarely seen i.e afro textured hair is being a leader or a follower.

  3. No. Who cares if its not a big trend, lifes too short to worry bout what others think, as long as you wear it with confidence no one should say anything and if they do than they're just jealous.

  4. the embarassing thing is only the thing which u cant talk abaut it

  5. You have hair like my daughter. She sometimes uses the Maxiglide
